Nobody would be surprised if United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley becomes secretary of state in the near future – most likely during President Trump’s second term (if he wins re-election).
After that, it’s rumored Haley could run for president herself in 2024.

Ignoring the fact that the United States has veto power, the United Nations prepared a resolution to “nullify” President Donald Trump’s recent decision to formally recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
In what proved to be little more than spitting in the wind, the 15 member UN Security Council voted on the resolution on Monday, prompting the U.S. to exercise that power.
U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley effectively told the UN where to shove the measure she called an “insult,” saying a sovereign country “will not be told” where it can locate its embassy.
What we have witnessed here is an insult,” Haley continued. “It won’t be forgotten. It is one more example of the UN doing more harm than good in addressing the Israeli Palestinian conflict.”

Haley said that a peace process that is damaged by “the simple recognition” that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital is “not a peace process, it is a justification for an endless stalemate.”
She took sharp issue with those charging that the US move set the peace process back, asking: “What does it gain the Palestinian people for some of their leaders to accuse the US of being hostile to the cause of peace?” Haley said that the US had done more than any other country to assist the Palestinian people, and has provided them with more than $5 billion in assistance since 1994.
The US, she pointed out, funds 30% of the UNRWA budget, which is “vastly more than some of the members of this council who have considerable financial resources of their own.”
Haley said that what is troublesome for some people is that the US had the “courage and honesty to recognize a fundamental reality: Jerusalem has been the political, cultural and spiritual homeland of the Jewish people for thousands of years; they have had no other capital city.”

Nikki Haley’s diplomatic career is no longer nascent, but her support for the Jewish state, while no longer surprising, is still one of the most reassuring features of the Trump administration.
Today, 14 members of the Security Council voted for an Egyptian-sponsored resolution regarding Jerusalem’s status. Nikki Haley, speaking for the United States, vetoed that resolution. She explained declaratively and unhesitatingly: “We do it with no joy, but we do it with no reluctance. The fact that this veto is being done in defense of American sovereignty and in defense of America’s role in the Middle East peace process is not a source of embarrassment for us.” And then the zinger: “It should be an embarrassment for the rest of the Security Council.”
Speaking directly to those who would accuse the United States of being unconcerned with the plight of the Palestinians, she noted that the U.S. funded nearly 30 percent of UNRWA’s budget last year. Uninterested in the soft subtlety once expected of female diplomats, Haley minced no words. “I’ll be blunt,” she promised. “When the American people see a group of countries whose total contributions to the Palestinian people is less than 1 percent of UNRWA’s budget, when they see these countries accuse the United States of being insufficiently committed to peace, the American people lose their patience.”
No - please. Do not talk of Haley for Secy of State. The UN is one thing. Hard not to do the "right thing" there because it constantly does the wrong. But Secy of State? No, not Haley. And surely not for President in 2024. Nicki Haley is unfortunately not all that committed to a solid worldview. Her stupid remarks about hearing all women, regardless , on accusations of sexual harassment was an obvious suck up to women who she must think vote with their private parts for brains. (rather ironic as she has had some nasties said of her moral code so she might not want to go all puritanical on us here). She also jumped from person to person when the REpublican primaries were going on and she surely put Nicki ahead of the people of SC when she was governor. Nicki is in it for Nicki. We have enough egos out there. I want a statesman and woman who goes in to serve and gets out. No more professional politicians to suck us dry.
