Over the past few months, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has raised serious questions about her mental health by making a series of bizarre public appearances. Though she claims to be fine, things have now gotten so bad that even her fellow Democrats are calling for her to resign for the sake of her party.
The Washington Examiner reported that Rep. Linda Sanchez, D-Calif., called on Pelosi to resign on Wednesday so that new Democratic leaders could take her place.
“I do think we have this real breadth and depth of talent within our caucus and I do think it’s time to pass a torch to a new generation of leaders and I want to be a part of that transition,” Sanchez said.
Sanchez is a top leader in the Democratic Party, as she serves as vice chair of the House Democratic caucus. She explained that the Democratic top leaders, including Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md., and Assistant Minority Leader James Clyburn, D-S.C., have been running the House Democratic caucus for more than a decade and others are eager to play a bigger role.
“I want to see that happen. I think we have too many great members here that don’t always get the opportunities that they should,” she said. “I would like to see that change.”
This could not be more humiliating for Pelosi, as it means that even her fellow Democratic leaders in California want to see her go.
